The Rocky Mountain Chalet is a boutique hotel based upon a classic European Chalet located in Winter Park, Colorado. In January 2014 they selected the 4 below prints of Artwork by Natasha Bacca when remodeling their rooms. They sent me the bedding photos below when together we decided on which images would work best. I love how they selected the artwork and new bedding at the same time!
How do you select your artwork?
Based on other elements in your home? Color(s)? Price? What questions do you have about how to select artwork? I would love to hear from you! Please comment below!

I selected this bottle of wine to create a photogram of because the image is etched on the glass. This transparency allows for a sharper and more clear image than images from paper labels. Last year the owner of Ellensburg Canyon Winery selected a giclee print of this image for his tasting room. After receiving the artwork he sent me the following message:
"Natasha-
I received my Root 1 art work today and hung it in my Tasting Room, very nice touch. The reason I choose this piece is because I get a lot of questions about how a grape vine grows and why Washington Wines are unique in the World of Wine. A picture is worth a 1000 words and your art captures the following discussion beautifully. The piece shows that a grape vine is a perrenial/taprooted/dicotyledonous plant, which in Washington, does not need to be grafted. This is due to our soils/climate, which do not allow for the winged form of Phyloxera to occur and therefore allows the true varietal characteristics to manifest themselves. If you don't know the story of Phyloxera, it goes something like this: Thomas Jefferson loved wine so much that he wanted to see if American grape vines (Vitas lambrusca) when exported to France for trials there, could make a great wine in that Terroir. With the root stock went Phyloxera (a root louse), which then infested all vineyards around the world, decimating the Wine Industry by 1865. It was not until Dr. Denson at Texas A&M University realized that the American Vitas lambrusca was resistant and by grafting Vitas vinifera onto it, saved the World's Wine Industry. This then, makes any/all Washington Wines taste 'different' than the same variety from any other place, and in my humble opinion, taste better. This is proven by the fact that when tasted in blind competitions against the finest French Wines in Paris, the Washington Wines are chosen. When the price point comparisons are added in, jaws drop, as we make quality wines at very affordable prices. Cheers!"

I have known Lilly for many years. She is wonderful person, and we've had a lot of fun together! About 3 1/2 years ago she let me borrow a dress for my brother's wedding. When I tried to give it back to her she insisted I keep it. So as a 'thank you' I made her a piece of art, which started her collection of Artwork by Natasha Bacca. Over time she has added more pieces to her collection with photo prints and preliminary sketches. She now has a beautiful display of 24 pieces throughout her home. See them all below.

Lilly got these pieces for her living room, but her daughter took them and hung them in her bedroom.

Thank you for viewing! If you have questions or comments I would love to hear them. Much love to you all! Memento Mori 2012 unique chromogenic photogram 90" x 90" (3 30" x 90" panels) Last week I installed Memento Mori in The Arthur located at 726 SW 11th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. The Arthur recently opened for business and offers micro studios in the heart of downtown Portland for those wanting to live the urban lifestyle in the thriving west end. The Arthur is conveniently situated on 11th Avenue between Morrison and Yamhill in the heart of Downtown Portland. With the Streetcar running directly in front of the building and MAX lines running to the North and South, it's never be too far from all the city has to offer. Portland's West End offers plenty of attractions including City Target, Providence Park, food carts, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutiques, Portland State, and so much more! Learn more about The Arthur here. The owner of The Arthur said he selected Memento Mori because it is beautiful, pleasant to the eye, and he loves the philosophy of it. Additionally, color and light were an important part of the remodel of the building, which Memento Mori compliments well. Memento Mori installed in The Arthur:About Memento Mori: Memento Mori is a Latin phrase that translates to "Remember your mortality." It is an artistic theme dating back to antiquity, and it refers to a genre of artworks that vary widely but which share a common purpose: to alter people to their ephemerality. More than a work of art, Memento Mori acts as a catalyst for the human imagination to engage with questions surrounding the nature of life and death. It acts upon the mortal constraints of all people, and the finite, fragile boundaries of the human body. Using the symbolism of nature, I created a triptych of a tree which illustrates new growth in the first panel, extends into full bloom in the second panel, and concludes with a third panel of dead branches and fallen leaves. The tree exhibits a transitory beauty, an ephemeral symbol of mortality that engages the Earth as a living medium, and illustrates the passage of time. The tree image is a living Memento Mori. Its purpose is to remind the viewer that death is an unavoidable part of life, something to be prepared for at all times. But the image of the tree also reminds us of something startling and important: life is meaningful, temporary, and sacred. Thank you for viewing!
