TREES
In line with my one of a kind artwork, I choose nature as an analogous subject as all elements of nature are unique. With no two leaves, trees, flowers, or other natural elements ever being exactly alike, I bring to light the intricate textures and details of my subjects, giving attention and appreciation to every aspect through careful arrangement and layering. I deepen the illustration of exceptional nature at times by combining disparate elements, for example, carnations on aspen branches. I use nature as a catalyst to explore concepts of life and health. Nature exhibits a transitory beauty, an ephemeral symbol of the cycle of life that engages the Earth as a living medium, reminding viewers that life is meaningful, temporary, and sacred.

Dream Trees explore the ephemeral nature of dreams as a world unique to the dreamer. The endeavor of understanding the subconscious as it merges with the conscious in an effort to translate what one identifies as reality is represented by a tree; a symbol in all branches of human knowing, emerging in various world theologies, mythologies, and philosophies. The tree exhibits a transitory beauty, an ephemeral symbol of life. With branches reaching to the sky, roots plunging deep in the earth, and a trunk planted firmly in between, the tree offers a fragile link between the three worlds (heaven, earth, and underworld) in which it dwells; a metaphor for the human mind which also links three worlds, conscious, unconscious, and subconscious, providing a reality unique to every individual.
