I contacted Mark Sink last October to inquire about his consulting services. He replied with extremely kind words writing, “You do lovely work. You’re an explorer with a wonderful eye,” and he invited me to participate in his exhibition The BIG Picture, going on now. 5 images I have in The BIG Picture: {Click on images to enlarge & view in slideshow format.} Installation of "Galactic": As more installation photos become available I will posted them on my Facebook page. An interview with Mark: Mark Sink, a private art consultant, represents and curates local and international cutting-edge fine art photography. Mark is co-founder of MCA Denver and founder of the Month of Photography Denver. His personal fine art photography is shown and collected world wide. To learn more about Mark visit his website. What is The BIG Picture? A street art exchange with artists from all over the world. An exhibition of grand scale contemporary black and white photography. The intent of the event is to connect people through an exchange of images as information instantly transferred. Through a combination of invitations and an international open call for entry, hundreds of images were gathered from talented photographers all over the globe and enlarged as monumental Xerox prints. The BIG Picture begins inside galleries and museums and spills out into satellite venues, the streets of Denver and sister cities around the globe. See the work up and book published from last season here. What is the goal of The BIG Picture? To bring local artists, the public, and the world closer with photography. To think outside of the box. To think about art out in the open and free for all to enjoy. To make an ugly wall beautiful. To introduce the world to Denver's intense and growing fine art community. To inspired young people and show art is fun... and not expensive. How did you get involved with The BIG Picture? I am the founder. I love curating. I liked the idea one could share simple emails of art that was easily printable with friends and make friends around the world, and one day I proposed we do a street art exchange. It grew from there. I have always been interested in using the Internet to curate real shows from many, many years ago in the early nineteen nineties I did a show called Off The Highway - work of artists who hung out in a fine art photography chat room. We had a show in a real gallery. It was a success and traveled. I made many close friends, some have become very famous, several are in The BIG Picture. How did you select which artists to feature? I hand pick people whose work I find inspiring, and I have a open calling for work where anyone can submit. If we like it we will pick something and print and paste it. How many artworks will be displayed? Hundreds and hundreds in Denver and around the world. How many cities are participating? Over fifty so far. Many more will be added. What feedback have you received from people about The BIG Picture? That’s the best part - families stopping on the street and joining. People stop just to tell you how great it is, including police and security guards. The BIG Picture: You can follow us on Facebook. A google map listing all the spots with images will be out later this year as well as a book of images, both which will be found here. Thank you for viewing!
If you have questions or comments I would love to hear them. Much love to you all! ♥ Natasha
