Three symbolic meanings I use often in my artwork are: Transcendental symbolism, which comes from the dance of leaves. The characteristic fluttering of aspen tree leaves is one of their most notable attributes. Aspen leaves quiver and flutter in the slightest breeze, creating their own music as they dance with the cosmic beat. The shimmering effect that results creates the characteristic aspen "quake." Strength symbolism: The bark of aspen trees contains chlorophyll so that aspens can continue growing in the winter months. Each individual tree can live for 40–150 years above ground, but the root system of the colony is long-lived. They are able to survive forest fires, because the roots are below the heat of the fire, with new sprouts growing after the fire burns out. Aspen trees are one of the first tree species to repopulate an area that has been cleared by fire or cutting. Groves of aspen can replenish themselves in as little as fifty years. Community symbolism: An aspen grove is actually a single living organism! Aspens reproduce by sprouting shoots from their roots, allowing them to grow in a cohesive grove. While individual aspens live about 100 years, a grove can reach several thousand years in age, a symbol of the strength found in community.
From The Wisdom of Trees by Jane Gifford:
As the wind passes through the aspen leaves, they whisper a message of peace: listen within yourself and find comfort in the still, small voice of calm; in the music of the spheres; in the resounding "om" of existence; in the voice of Goddess - whatever you chose to call the spirit moving through the silence within us. You can interpret this in whichever way is most personal to you. The aspen teaches the lesson of fearlessness, and gives us the strength to face fear that comes with the unknown. To quote Dr. Bach, aspen helps us to understand that "the power of love stands behind and overcomes all things." Once we know this to be true, "we are beyond pain, suffering, care, worry, and fear, and we become participants of true joy."

I have known Lilly for many years. She is wonderful person, and we've had a lot of fun together! About 3 1/2 years ago she let me borrow a dress for my brother's wedding. When I tried to give it back to her she insisted I keep it. So as a 'thank you' I made her a piece of art, which started her collection of Artwork by Natasha Bacca. Over time she has added more pieces to her collection with photo prints and preliminary sketches. She now has a beautiful display of 24 pieces throughout her home. See them all below.

Lilly got these pieces for her living room, but her daughter took them and hung them in her bedroom.

As an artist I get asked a lot of questions about artwork in different spaces: how it will look in a specific space; what pieces, colors, patterns, etc. will look best in a space or on a particular color wall; what size and / or orientation fits a space best; the feel of the artwork and / or space; and much more.
One of my favorite things to do for clients is digitally show them what artwork(s) will look like in their space. They send me a photo of their space (living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc.) and let me know which images they like, and I send them back photos like the ones below. These visual representations provide a lot. But what I frequently try to communicate to people is that there is no right or wrong answer about what artwork works best in a space. It is all very subjective, and the most important thing is that the person who lives with the artwork loves living with it (not what color is trending this year, the architectural style of your home, or other methodical methods of choosing artwork). Below I show examples of 10 different living spaces + 2 different pieces of Artwork by Natasha Bacca. The 10 different spaces vary in style, color, architecture, use, and feel, providing a good variety of living environments. The 2 different pieces of Artwork by Natasha Bacca illustrate different imagery (tree vs. flowers), colors (warm-color dominant vs. cool-color dominant), styles (single pieces vs. multi-panel piece), orientation (vertical vs. horizontal), and feel (more contemporary vs. more traditional). Other differences are illustrated as well, such as different framing options on the artworks. The below examples illustrate well that there is no right or wrong answer about what artwork works best in a space. Both artworks work well in all 10 spaces!

I created the above 30 artworks in the 1st quarter of 2015,
and the following 30 preliminary sketches were used to create them. See and read more about the artworks I created in the 1st quarter of 2015 here.
I create my artworks in darkness on photographic paper. Once the photographic paper is exposed and processed it is complete. I cannot adjust anything afterward or go back over an area as a painter would on canvas. So I work with many pieces of photo paper before completing a final artwork. These are known as preliminary sketches or test strips.
Preliminary Sketch: A quick or less detailed painting often made as a preliminary study; a brief general account or presentation. I often create preliminary sketches in preparation for larger, more detailed works of art. Test Strip: A method of calculating exposure in photographic printing. A number of exposures are given to smaller pieces of paper, over specific areas of the image to help judge the exposure in the final print. I use test strips to calculate exposure times as well as to determine colors and color combinations. I sell my preliminary sketches to offer my original art affordably for everyone. I am offering the following preliminary sketches for $20, $40, and $60 +$5 shipping anywhere in the US or free pick-up locally. This is an excellent way to collect Artwork by Natasha Bacca or get great gifts for loved ones! Each piece is an original so get the one-and-only piece while you can! New Artwork by Natasha Bacca
The following 30 artworks were created in the 1st quarter of 2015.
Florals
I use nature as a catalyst to explore concepts of life and health. Nature exhibits a transitory beauty, an ephemeral symbol of the cycle of life that engages the Earth as a living medium, reminding viewers that life is meaningful, temporary, and sacred.
Trees

Butterflies
Images in this series explore concepts of change and metamorphosis. Butterflies are used as symbols of miraculous expansion and growth. Transformation is celebrated in these images.
Abstract
Images in this series explore space. The unknown and unexplored realms of the physical world are imagined as one might experience them; an expression of ideas surrounding an appreciation of the infinite variety and vastness which surrounds us.
Wine
This series is inspired by my love of wine. My family name, Bacca, means berry in Italian, and forms the root of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. Wine Enthusiast Magazine has called this series "wall-worthy for any oenophile." See the feature here. This series was also featured in the Italian Magazine Wine Pass. See the feature here.
